Free College Course Online Offerings Expanding Greatly

The biggest trend in college education these days is online learning. Nearly every university and college system has online offerings for their students, and many more students are becoming interested. The only problem for some students is if they've never taken a class online before. They might not be sure if they can adapt to learning in this manner, or if it's the right environment for them.

Now students who want to check out online learning, but not spend a fortune in tuition, can take advantage of free online courses. These classes are accredited college classes, designed by education professionals such as college professors. Tuition for even one class can run into the thousands of dollars, and that could be a big waste of money if you're not suited for online education.

Today, there are more offerings for free online classes than ever before. Previously there were generally only one or two offerings. Now, however, there are a number of exciting class offerings students can take that apply to a wide range of professional fields, from the humanities to medicine, and more.

Students who are interested in criminal justice and the law can take an intro to criminal justice course. They will be introduced to a variety of criminal law concepts, from the three areas of criminal law (law enforcement, judicial, and corrections), to the history of prisons in America and important legal precedents. Students can transition to a number of different career majors with this course, including law enforcement, forensics, and paralegal studies, just to name a few.

If medicine is an area of interest for an aspiring online student, they can enroll in a free medical terminology class. This fascinating class will teach a student the history and usage of the language of medicine, from its Latin roots to its modern day usage in the field. Medical terminology is a core requirement class for many medical jobs, including physician's assistants, medical administration, and nursing.

Many students want to enter the world of business, which has dozens of various jobs. A free intro to business class can help a student decide which area of business suits their temperament and intellect the best. In an introductory to business class, students will study various management case studies, briefly look at business accounting, and examine a variety of styles of marketing and other sales strategies.

In the humanities, students can choose from either an Intro to psychology or an English composition class. These classes are ideal for free online classes, because they are core class requirements for the participating online colleges. By taking one of these two classes, students will have an opportunity to have one of their general education requirement credits paid for by someone else.

It's important to note that although each college course online is free, they are not intended to be a walk in the park. Looking at these as scholarships for classes is probably better than thinking free means "easy". These classes are designed to meet rigorous college curriculum requirements. Students who do not devote a significant portion of their time to studying will not automatically pass, because these classes are designed primarily to make sure that students can handle the independent nature of online learning and education.
